'There' शब्द का कोई विशेष अर्थ नहीं है। केवल Sentence की बनावट को Complete (पूरा) करने के लिए 'There' का प्रयोग किया जाता है। इन Sentences में Real (असली) Subjects 'There' के बाद रखे गये हैं तथा Verbs भी Real Subjects के अनुसार Singular या Plural प्रयुक्त हुए हैं। There का केवल एक ही काम है और वह Subject को Introduce करना। अतः 'There' के ऐसे प्रयोग को Grammar की भाषा में Introductory Use of 'There' कहा जाता है। 'There' एक Adverb भी है, जिसका हिन्दी अर्थ 'यहाँ' होता है।
1. Affirmative Sentence in Hindi

(यॉर्क में एक राजा थे।)
9. There is a book shop on that corner.
(उसे कोने पर एक किताब की दुकान है।)
10. There have been a lot of discussion on this subject.
(इस विषय पर बहुत चर्चा हो चुकी है।)
2. Negative Sentence in Hindi
Noun के पहले जब Article या संख्यासूचक शब्द हो, तो Not लगाया जाता है और जब Article या संख्यासूचक शब्द नहीं हो, तो No लगाया जाता है।

(खेल के मैदान में कोई लड़के नहीं थे।)
8. There will be no fine for coming late.
(देर से आने के लिए कोई जुर्माना नहीं होगा।)
9. There is no water in the pond.
(तालाब में पानी नहीं है।)
10. There is no workers in my office.
(मेरे कार्यालय में कर्मचारी नहीं है।)
