Negative Sentences में जिस प्रकार हिंदी में न, नहीं, मत इन शब्दों का प्रयोग किया जाता है, अंग्रेज़ी में इनके लिये कौनसे शब्द आते हैं और वाक्य में किस स्थान पर आते हैं। जैसे कि आप जानते हैं अंग्रेज़ी के Negative Sentences में प्रमुखता से not इस शब्द का प्रयोग किया जाता है। लेकिन no, never, nothing ऐसे शब्द भी Negative Sentences में आते हैं, इस अध्याय में इन सभी शब्दों का प्रयोग करना सीखेंगे।
Points to remember
1. Auxiliary Verb मैं एक से अधिक शब्द हो (जैसे, will be will have, could have, should have) तभी उस स्थान पर Auxiliary Verb का पहला एक शब्द ही आएगा, उसके बाद not और not के बाद बचा हुआ शब्द आएगा। अर्थात उपयुक्त रचना के वाक्य में could have का प्रयोग करना हो तो हम could not have कहेंगे।
2. Auxiliary Verb तथा not को आप अलग शब्दों की तरह अलग अलग प्रयोग कर सकते हैं अथवा इकट्ठा मिला कर भी प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। किसी भी Auxiliary Verb में not जोड़ने के लिये उस Auxiliary Verb में सिर्फ n't जोड़ना होता है। सिर्फ will, shall, am और can अपवाद हैं। जैसे:
- is + not = isn't
- are + not = aren't
- have + not = haven't
- should + not = shouldn't
3. Negative Sentences से ' नकार ' ( Denial ) का बोध होता है। Negative Sentences प्रायः no और not लगाकर बनाये जाते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त never, nobody, none, nothing, neither, nor, seldom, आदि Negative Words है।
1. Negative Sentence की रचना

1. I cannot accept this responsibility.
मैं यह जिम्मेदारी स्वीकार नहीं कर सकता।
2. Money does not grow on a tree.
पैसे पेड़ पर नहीं लगते।
3. We have not reached any decision yet.
हम अभी तक किसी भी निर्णय पर नहीं पहुंचे हैं।
4. You should not have broken the promise.
तुम्हें वादा नहीं तोड़ना चाहिए था।
5. William does not feed the cows.
विलियम गायों को नहीं खिलाता है।
6. She did not recognise him.
वह उसे नहीं पहचानती।
7. They must not come here.
उन्हें यहां कदापि नहीं आना चाहिए।
8. My dog is not barking these days.
मेरा कुत्ता आजकल नहीं भौंक रहा है।
9. The people of my village were not quarrelling.
मेरे गांव के लोग नहीं झगड़ रहे थे।
10. She had not seen the Red Fort before.
इससे पहले वह लाल किला नहीं देखी थी।
2. Negative Sentence की रचना

तुम क्यों नहीं आते हो?
2. Has Nathan not opened the shop?
क्या नाथन ने दुकान नहीं खोला है?
3. Were the children not making a noise?
क्या बच्चे शोरगुल नहीं कर रहे थे?
4. Why does he not come here?
वह यहां क्यों नहीं आता है?
5. Does milk not make our body strong?
क्या दूध हमारे शरीर को मजबूत नहीं बनाता है?
7. Can he not speak the truth?
क्या वह सच नहीं बोल सकता है?
8. Did that girl not accept your proposal?
क्या उस लड़की ने तुम्हारे प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार नहीं किया?
9. Is the servant not feeding the cows?
क्या नौकर गायों को नहीं मिला रहा है?
10. Why is she not speaking the truth?
वह सच क्यों नहीं बोल रही है?
3. Use of 'No'
कहने के लिये no और not का हिंदी में अर्थ एक ही बताया जा सकता है, लेकिन no और not का अर्थ समान होने के बावजूद उनके प्रयोग में अंतर है। यह अंतर समझने के लिए जो की अंग्रेजी अर्थ पर ध्यान दें।- no = not a/not any = कुछ नहीं/कोई नहीं
Points to remember
सूचना में निम्नानुसार no का प्रयोग की अनुमति नहीं है अथवा न करें इस अर्थ में किया जा सकता है।- धूम्रपान न करें - No smoking
- वाहन खड़े न करें - No parking

1. He is in no condition to go to work.
वह काम पर जाने की हालत में नहीं है।
2. No one can do this work.
कोई भी यह काम नहीं कर सकता।
3. I have no money.
मेरे पास पैसे नहीं है।
4. There is no need to argue.
बहस करने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है।
5. She showed no interest in learning English.
उसने अंग्रेजी सीखने में कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं दिखाई।
6. It is not use worrying.
चिंता करने से कुछ फायदा नहीं है।
7. No other town in the world is so rich as America.
दुनिया का कोई अन्य शहर अमेरिका जितना समृद्ध नहीं है।
8. He has no interest in sports.
उसे खेलों में कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं है।
9. There was no car on the road.
सड़क पर कोई कार नहीं थी।
10. She is feeling no better this morning.
आज सुबह भी उसकी तबियत कुछ बेहतर नहीं है।

मैं यह अवसर कभी नहीं भूलूंगा।
2. She never calls me.
वह मुझे कभी फोन नहीं करती।
3. No one came to the party.
कोई भी पार्टी में नहीं आया।
4. You have never done anything for me.
तुमने मेरे लिए कभी भी कुछ नहीं किया।
5. I have nothing to say.
मेरे पास कहने के लिए कुछ भी नहीं है।
6. He said nothing about this.
उसने इस बारे में कुछ भी नहीं कहा।
7. Nobody gotta full marks in the test.
टेस्ट में किसी को भी पूर्ण अंक नहीं मिले।
8. She had never seen so much snow.
उसने कभी इतनी बर्फ नहीं देखी थी।
9. Nobody come forward to help us.
हमारी सहायता करने के लिए कोई भी आगे नहीं आया।
10. None of these houses are for sale.
इन घरों में से कोई भी बिक्री के लिए नहीं है।
